About Bellevue Ward
A fresh focus for Bellevue
I believe our communities in Kew East, and North Balwyn, should be consulted more, and have a greater say about what can be done to improve ‘the place we live in’.
Too often the current Council is making decisions on behalf of residents based on out-dated assumptions or Council is consulting with pre-determined agendas.
I have been door knocking residents in Kew East and North Balwyn, as well as talking to people at our Shopping Centres and finding out:
-
What you value in your neighbourhood?
-
What are you concerned about?
-
What would you like to see happen in Bellevue or more widely, in the City of Boroondara?

Living in Bellevue is great
Bellevue Ward is one of the most open and green areas in Boroondara, covering Kew East, and a large part of North Balwyn, north of Doncaster Road.
It is good, but residents have many suggestions that can make it much better. We need to have more responsible spending on large-scale infrastructure projects that would allow us to keep rates lower.
This in turn will allow us to get more local projects done that build community. Projects such as community gardens in Nth Balwyn, half-court basketball for teenagers, and many residents want to see a review of ideas for a mountain bike track or a skate park .
Bellevue has an abundance of Shopping Villages. We need to develop plans in co-operation with Traders to encourage local shopping and improve and expand parking in key areas. We need plans and support for Greythorn Village, Harp Junction, Balwyn North Village, Bellevue Shopping Ctr, Boroondara Shopping Ctr, Dickins Corner shops.
Bellevue has a number of Schools and Kindergartens. We need to improve pedestrian crossing at key 'hot spots' that residents have told me about, like the roundabout on Earl St/Willsmere Rd near Willsmere shops. We need to make sure that we have more meeting places for parents and carers, improve inclusion and provide more public toilets and shelters at parks like Hyde Park.
We need better amenities at recreational parks like Hyde Park, and also at sporting facilities, particularly for girls and women's teams. We need to upgrade amenities at Macleay Park for the Boroondara Netball Association, and at Balwyn Saints, Myrtle Park.
